RIDING MARIA ISLAND -
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED To KNOW.

We have some simple rules about ENJOYING your time riding on Maria Island.

RULE 1:

Ride Safely and within your own limits.

RULE 2:

No riding on the beaches.

RULE 3:

Helmets must be worn at all times.

RULE 4:

Stay to the marked tracks.

RULE 5:

Respect other visitors on the island.

The rules are based around common sense and respecting the privilege of riding in this amazing National Park.

Maria Island is a special place to ride a bike. It is an isolated and largely pristine environment, there is minimal traffic (you probably won’t see a moving vehicle) and there is an abundance of wildlife.

Our riding rules are in place so that you, other visitors today and future visitors enjoy the experience of Maria Island. There aren’t many but they are important.

Maria Island is a National Park - this means there are rules about what we need to do to look after it for generations to come. The island is managed by the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service — they have a great Maria Island visitor hub on their website.
